All about dental & porcelain veneers
Dental veneers, porcelain veneers or tooth veneers as they are also known are wafer-thin layers that are custom made and attached to the front of the tooth/teeth in order to produce a healthy and attractive look. The layer covers the entire front of the tooth from the gum down to the edge of the tooth.
Porcelain veneers result in a total ”tooth makeover” and are used primarily for severe discolourations’, uneven tooth placement or shape, gaps, cracks and worn front teeth.
”More simplified one could say that tooth veneers do for ones teeth what false nails do for ones hands”

Are porcelain veneers the correct treatment for you?
Porcelain veneers can be used for almost all aesthetical desires as they completely hide the underlying tooth. One should however be aware that it may be possible to achieve good results with simpler treatments.
Porcelain veneers are well suited for the following cases:
- Discoloured enamel – severely discoloured front teeth that do not respond to traditional teeth whitening can be corrected with porcelain veneers that completely hide the surface of the underlying teeth.
- Damaged or worn teeth – damaged or worn teeth can be given a new appearance with dental veneers. However, in some cases the damages can be fixed with simpler methods such as bonding or composite.
- Uneven teeth or spaces – unevenness in terms of spaces can be corrected with something known as bonding, which is a simpler treatment. However, dental veneers are a more powerful and lasting alternative for those cases when bonding is not sufficient.
- Crooked teeth – crooked front teeth should primarily be fixed using corrective dentistry. Though in some cases dental veneers can provide a quicker and easier solution.
- Gaps between the teeth – gaps and uneven spacing between the front teeth can easily be closed by using porcelain veneers or composites resulting in a more even smile.
